Lying Down is a photography-based full size 'zine to highlight the good life full of traveling, lying down, adventuring, lying down, working, more lying down, and of course napping on the cold floor in the summer heat.
Issue 1:
Featuring Skips' the dog with the vibes and philosophy behind the Florp™. 44 pages of photography expertly risograph printed using a variety of photo separation techniques ranging from one colors, to color mixing overlays, to classic halftone rosettes. This zine took years of photos, silly writing, ads, and games and wrapped them up into a silly little magazine celebrating being lazy and leaving your job behind.
We made this zine originally to help fundraise for Skips the dog's medical bills.
Skips had been feeling really sick this year [2025]. We had seen many specialist with still no answers. He had been through so many tests, treatments, long dog hospital stays, and all that's left has been more questions.
We had this idea for this zine floating for a few years and it felt like the right time to celebrate and make something big. *see product updates*

Update 12/2025:
Skips has since passed from an aggressive cancer on 11/09/2025. Each Zine will now come with one of Skips' final trading cards & a statement about his life. The charity fund for this zine will no longer stay in our house to help with Skips' medical bills, but instead be 100% donated to an animal shelter in need to help dogs just like him on his birthday yearly.
We thank you for your purchase of this zine and the support of our lives while Skips was with us.
At the time of note we will not be making an issue 2 for this zine.

With references to pulp, old special interest magazines, and photography zines. This in-house made Zine took a collection of photos over the years of our dog Skips' laying down and down right lounging. In between silly photos we added tons of creative writing and ads [we highly recommend reading through the ads btw] to feel like a real analogue classic magazine [which it is].
The printing of this zine run took over 13 hours of printing, 5464 print impressions, over 100 master screens, and countless design hours to achieve. Each page was hand separated and interposed to create efficient printing while controlling each ink pass. Each page was fed through the risograph duplicator a maximum of 4 times. With the nature of risograph every zine will have a different appearance to each photo printed. Printed on our text weight Stardust paper to add in speckles of color throughout even the one color pages.
at the time of making this magazine we did not use any folding or scoring machines, opting to fold the over-600 sheets by hand with a bone folder and skill.
We made 55 total copies with a few remaining in our permanent collection. We had originally intended to make this zine a yearly print featuring a different subjects/ showcases, with this first issue being the most intensive.
We know the loss of Skips' is a heavy one but we hope you can uphold his memory by owning this fun magazine in your collection and to use as inspiration to take more photos, do silly things, and above all else, Lounge around a little bit.
We currently have this project on hold due to the loss of Skips in November of 2025.
Issue 2 may return in the future with new writings, format, theme, and photos as we had a blast creating such a fun book.
