Print is made using three colors with two different color photo-separation techniques with interwoven text on oversized paper. Each print was passed through the risograph printer multiple times leading to each print having a distinct & unique look.

artist statement

skips the dog was always laying down. and that’s okay with me. we could all use to slow down. originally photographed in summer while laying in the grass. skips always found the time to lay down, wait, & observe.

this print is a three color risograph print. printed on a two color mh9450. made from a photograph of skips in the grass. edited with two separate photo printing techniques. one in 3 color halftones without black ink & the other as a two color overlay with blue + yellow.
originally designed to be a fun add in to the laying down photo zine inspired by skips’ love of laying down wherever and whenever. made larger here. now this print helps immortalize skips the dog after his passing. the reverse is skips’ official paw print printed in black ink.

may we all remember to lay down & relax from time to time. even if it inconveniences others. it’s what he would have wanted. he will never be forgotten.

This art print is produced by Tom [our print master/ artist AKA: Lumberjack Tom] for the love of our late dog Skips.
 
Created using halftones and direct color overlay Tom crafted each element of this print to provide a timeless feel on the wall in any hung location. It is built to fit in. Printing this print he passed each sheet of paper through a risograph 4 times using a mixed simulated-CMYK and direct dither overlay to let the print technique shine through. Traditionally Risograph prints are limited to 11x17" paper but through careful planning and skilled illusions to bypass mechanical limitations Tom can successfully create oversized prints on these analogue feeling printers. Created in the easily frame-able 12x16" the art can easily be protected in any frame for any budget. 

Tom put every skill in over 20 years of print & design into this print for to show the love we all had for Skips. Skips was ever present when Tom repaired our early 90's risograph and was there for the delivery of our brand new ones. He was every bit a printer in our hearts.

We hope this print makes it into your home and is a center of pride for your collection.
